The man behind Groovy Entertainment is Gavin Poole (owner and DJ - that's me above holding the microphone).  I was introduced to the world of DJing through an newspaper ad back in 1998 while I was working at McDonalds and studying my bachelor of education.  I got to go out and see how some experts of the industry worked back then.  Got my lucky break when another DJ didn't show up for their first show and I got sent by the boss to do the show...  And as you say the rest is history!

My passion for music extends back to when I was in primary school.  One of my first musical experiences I remember was listening to War Of The Worlds - The Red Weed and having to draw the images that came to mind.  I loved playing the recorder and after being tested, was given the chance to learn trumpet. I continued to study music during high school and moved to the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts where I completed a Certificate of Music (in Jazz) on the trumpet.  I have played many instruments over the years in many different community bands.  I had the privilege to be the leader of the Leeming Area Big Band for 5 years and have played lead Trumpet as part of the Fremantle Jazz Orchestra.  I am currently playing 1st Trumpet in Armadale Concert Band.  I enjoy playing ukulele and also am able to tutor students of any age on many different instruments (trumpet, guitar, keyboard just to name a few).

I am a primary school teacher currently teaching specialist music classes (have a Bachelor of Education).  I have a current Working With Children Check and police clearance which is regularly renewed.

I love all types of music ranging from Jazz through to Classical, Soul through to Pop, Disco to Country. My musical opportunities and experiences have given me the opportunity to appreciate so many different styles of music.

As you can clearly see, just about every part of my life is involved in music, so you can rest assured that I am on top of trends and music within the music industry.
